FLOOR MOUNTED "FLOATING" SHOE RACK

My sister in law moved in with us a while ago and the amount of shoes in the apartment increased slightly.  Living in Hawai'i, it is customary to not wear shoes in the house.  While many places have a dedicated area to put your footwear, our apartment does not.  So the footwear piles up by the door.  We have to carry any shoes or slippers we are not wearing in the near future to our room for storage.  There wasn't really a good spot in the second bedroom, so I decided to put something together for her shoes.

I had some leftover 3/4" maple plywood that my co-worker gave me a while ago from his own home projects.  I was limited by the specific space in the room that I wanted to put it, but fortunately for me, the "shoe rack" fit perfectly and used up all the wood without having any wasted pieces.  The OCD side of me always enjoys it when this happens.

I say "shoe rack" because the middle shelf space is a little tall for shoe storage, but I liked how it turned out.  I went back and forth on how to do the legs, and decided to go with this semi floating look.  I don't know if I am that crazy about it, but I like it enough not to change this one.
